Have you ever been transported into a Ralph Lauren ad? This wedding was like that times ten! We’re a “horsey” family so the whole equestrian vibe of the event was right up my alley! Let Emily and Josh tell you about it in their own words!
How did you meet?
Josh and I met in Ocala Florida when we were both competing our horses over the winter. Ironically, we met in a barn. Josh took me to lunch that day and the rest is history!
Tell us about your dress, shoes and other accessories!
I found my dress in London at Harrods. It is by Pronovias, a designer from Barcelona. I loved the dress because is was classic and timeless but also comfortable and flowy. I didnt want to wear what every bride wears which is strapless with a princess skirt. I wanted something more classic. Josh picked out my shoes. They are by Stuart Weitzman. They took a little while to break in but were easy to walk in and comfortable.
How did you choose your venue?
We chose our venue because it really fit our personalities and it really fit with the feel we wanted at our wedding. The old hunt country style with a little black tie chic was the feel we were going for.
Describe your decor and how you chose it.
We had a great florist (Ken from Cutoure Designs in Crozet VA) Josh and I met with Ken and told him what we were looking for and he went with it. We really wanted to incorporate our personal style and love for horses into the day. We explained to Ken that we were looking for Black Tie meets old school hunt country chic. He went with it and did an amazing job!
Tell us about your food and cake!
We didn’t want a large extravagant cake but we wanted to keep with the tradition of cutting the cake. We love Chandlers bakery so we had a small simple cake for cutting made. For our guests we had cupcakes in all different flavors each decorated to a tea! They were a big hit!
What detail did you like best about your wedding day?
I loved having our friends and family with us to celebrate. Having a small church that was overflowing out the door was amazing! It felt so warm and wonderful with so much love in the room. I also loved how relaxed I was. There wasn’t any stress that day. Just a great day with great friends and family.
What was your favorite moment during your wedding day?
I think one of my favorite moments was riding on the carriage from the church to the reception. It really have Josh and I a chance to stop and take a breath and take it all in. I also really loved having the horses there. The horses are such an important part in our lives and the wedding wouldn’t have been the same without them there.
What’s next on your calender as a couple?
Next on our calendar will be spending Thanksgiving in Arizona with Josh’s family and Christmas in Virginia with my family. After that we head down to Florida to compete our horses over the winter. We met in Florida so going down there each winter with our horses is always something special for us.
