As 2010 winds down, I enjoy looking back at some of the sessions and weddings I’ve photographed.  You may enjoy watching our 2010 Year in Review slideshow!

Now I want to hear about your 2010.  Use the comments to tell me about you and your year!

-What’s the best thing that happened? The worst?

-What is the most important lesson you learned in the past year?

-What accomplishment are you most proud of in the past 12 months?

-What’s the one thing you would go back and do-over if you could?

-What was your biggest disappointment?

-What brought you the most joy?

-What was the best book you read? The worst? Best movie you saw? The worst?

and if you’re a current client, I would love to know which image was YOUR favorite from your event or session!

Thanks to Dhomonique Ricks at WSET channel 13 for not making me look TOO goofy!  Check it out for yourselves at this link! The video is on the right in a little box.

further details to come…

How did you meet?
We went to college together, but …we barely knew each other. Of course I knew of the legend that is Dietram, but we barely uttered more than a dozen words to each other over the course of 4 years. As fate would have it, we found ourselves in one anther’s company the night before we graduated and spent many hours talking…only to graduate the next day and not see each other again. Or so we thought…

Six or so years later, fate would come knocking again to remind us of one another. We ran into each other at, of all places, a lounge called Double Happiness: a perfectly appropriate name for what was then to occur. We ran around New York City together that night (literally, running, I raced through the wet streets in traction-less flip flops only to slide from one street to the next, Dietram keeping up as best he could). We laughed and reminisced and enjoyed re-acquainting ourselves with one another. Dietram, not the most gregarious of fellows but certainly the most sincere I’d met, took a chance and called me the next day. Being the free spirit I am, I made what could have been the most tragic decision of my life: not returning his call. Thankfully, perhaps with the help of a higher being, Dietram called again 3 months later. And the rest as they say…

What detail did you like best about your wedding day?
SO many. It was blessed. You could really feel the love in the air. All my favorite people, on a gorgeous day, watching me marry Dietram. And how lucky I am to be marrying into his wonderful family. The love hovered in the air. Sounds cliche and a bit corny for my taste, but seriously, the general feeling was intense!! Magical.

What was your favorite moment during your wedding day?
Too many to list, but a top 5 fav moment was definitely when you snuck us away while the sun was setting to take some pictures in the front of the house… the light, the way the air felt, it was soooooo sooo pretty and special. and to steal away a few moments with Dietram away from our guests was so nice. It was a “deep breath, happy sigh, and ‘ahhhhhh'” kind of moment.

What’s next on your calender as a couple?
We just got back from sixteen amazing days in Italy so we’re going to work our way into the holidays slowly… and get over our jetlag. 🙂 but there will be eggnog and merriment to be had for sure!

How did you meet?

Jason and I met in architecture school at Georgia Tech in Atlanta.  We both spent countless hours working on projects in our two neighboring studios at school.  One early morning, after Jason had worked all through the night and I had arrived at school early to get a jumpstart on some work, he came into my studio to heat up some oatmeal in the microwave that sat right next to my work table.  He’s shy, so naturally he was going to sit there in silence while he waited for his oatmeal to warm up.  Well, I’m outgoing, so I struck up conversation – otherwise, the agony of sitting in awkward silence next to this cute boy for a full two minutes would have killed me!

What was your favorite moment during your wedding day?

At the close of our ceremony, recessing together from the absolutely stunning church alter to beautiful organ music and seeing all the happy smiles of our supportive congregation!

(Allegra’s note – we were extremely restricted in shooting inside the church)

What detail did you like best about your wedding day?

As cliche as it sounds, being surrounded by our family and friends who traveled from near and far was truly our favorite aspect of our celebration.  We do have to say, however, that the moonpie groomsman cake was a rather classy and unexpected touch that was a surprise to both of us!

So I don’t especially like being in the limelight but this interview was something I could handle!  Check out what I had to say on the Hill City Bride Blog!  And the photo?  My daughter took it when she was 5!

I can finally post this in-studio and on location bridal session.  Kate’s mom bought her wedding dress without a ring in sight (I’m not even sure she was dating at the time) and boy did she hit it out of the ballpark!  This amazing antique with incredible lace is a one of a kind unique creation, just like the bride wearing it.  Enjoy some images from her session and be sure to check out the entire take on the slideshow.
