Wow, talk about a party! With decor by Rod Meeks and Amy Thornburg, lighting and draping by Blue Ridge Light Forms, and DJ Barry Tosh spinning tunes, West Manor was ready for the brides! And they came, bringing fiancés, family and friends to taste and toast. Food was provide by West Manor’s chef and from the bites I snatched before the end of the night, you’ll want to make sure you lock in their catering! Wedding Cakes were provided by Billie’s Cakes and Coffee Cakes. Fashions for the show were provided by the YWCA Bridal Shop and Cello Strings provided the lovely music. Freezeframe out of Richmond entertained the crowd with instant photo booth images strips. And of course we cant forget all the wonderful folks from West Manor! Let’s start at the very beginning! How did you meet?
We met at our friend Laura Sullivan’s annual Epiphany/Yankee Swap party.
Pat and Sherry did their usual superb job with the florals…
It WAS beautiful light!
no matter which direction you looked!
I always appreciate being able to get angles from all over with outdoor weddings.
What was your favorite moment of the day?
All of it! Particularly special moments included our ceremony (we LOVED having all of our friends read and loved the messages from our dear friend Mary Faith’s sermon), our first dance together, and, at the end of the evening, our final dance to “Viva La Vida” where we danced in the middle and all of our friends danced around us…it was magical!
I loved the fans the couple thoughtfully provided for their guests and made use of one later on in the day…
and now back to the happy pair… aww…
Dad gave a heartfelt toast
interspersed with moments of levity
everyone was having a good time
with a break for dinner – Clifton, as always, provided just right fare. Elegant but not too fussy and as always delicious!
(ps in case you didn’t know, they are also open for meals during the week and it’s well worth the trip – I love that you can select two or three of whatever you want from the menu – maybe two appetizers and a dessert, or two mains if you’re especially hungry – very cool!)
Then, it was time to get that party started and DJ Tobler rocked the tent!
and Heather and David got in several magical moments!
What was your favorite detail of the day?
We really did love it all…from the food (the scallops!) to the flowers (we both love hydrangeas) to the music (who doesn’t have fun dancing to 80’s and 90’s music?!)
and they danced by the light of the moon…
What’s next for you both?
We’re going to enjoy the peacefulness of August and then head to Martha’s Vineyard for Labor Day.

And now I’ll let the couple tell you a little bit about themselves and their day!
How did you meet?
We met in the library of the school where we teach at the very beginning of the fall semester in 2008. We progressed into being friends, then into dating, and then love, true love!
What detail did you like best about your wedding day?
What DIDN’T we like? Everything was perfect: the music, the people, the dresses, the photographer, the choir, the ceremony, the poem, the bridal party, the slideshow, the cake……
What was your favorite moment during your wedding day?
Matthew: seeing Charlotte walk down the aisle.
Charlotte: listening to Matthew make his vows and then making mine to Matthew.
What’s next for you as a couple?
We went to Jamaica for our honeymoon, and this year’s plans include Hershey Park, a trip to Chincoteague and the Virginia Eastern Shor, and enjoying being married to each other!

What fun doing a local wedding – I knew a “few” people in the crowd!
