I’m so thrilled! WedPix (the online magazine from the Wedding Photojournalist Association) just published a very cool piece on photographers and how they capture quiet moments. They were kind enough to not only interview me but to showcase one of my award winning images.
Back from vacation and slowly trying to catch up on being effectively offline for over a week! I’ll keep this one brief with a a picture from my daughter’s favorite activity in the Big Apple!
well I WAS going to show just one, but by popular request, I am now posting the “fidgeon” hunter snapshots. My daughter has apparently been chasing and catching our chickens most of the summer and to the utter amazement of the New Yorkers standing by, she put that skill to the test by stalking and capturing a sky rat, er I mean pigeon. As I was buying her an ice cream at the commencement of the “stalk” there are no visuals for that but as soon as she had one in her hand, I dropped the ice cream and grabbed the camera. May I present, the “Figeon Hunter”?

No animals were injured in the making of this sequence!
Aundrea and Rashaun were married on a gorgeous sunny August day in Boston at Saint Katherine-Drexel Church with their reception at the Copely Marriott.
How can you not love a wedding that starts with the groom singing and dancing down the aisle?
what a glorious service!
although admitedly a little long at almost two hours…
one of my favorite times of the day – the first dance.
and a custom that I don’t run into very often – the money dance – (or a variation thereof!)
another favorite dance – father daughter… (when/if my little girl gets married, I’m going to be one big puddle of tears during this)
end of the night group hug
I’m up in beautiful Boston to help my friend Tony Pulsone with a wedding – his wife just gave birth to a beautiful baby girl and I was on call just in case (it’s great being a part of a group of like minded colleagues – Tony helped me out when I was pregnant with my daughter and acted as my second/step in lead just in case for a two wedding weekend.)
Anyway, hopefully I’ll get a chance to photograph the new arrival and the rest of the family later this weekend! In the meantime, I must admit to enjoying the gorgeous 65 degree weather after the 101 humidity blanket I left in VA! Have to run so I leave you with two variations of a view on the Charles River…

Let me know which version is YOUR favorite in the comments!
can I just say what troopers these guys were? It was at least 98 degrees with the lovely Virginia August humidity that slaps you like a wet sticky blanket the minute you walk outside! But as we were planning a sign in book for their September 15th wedding, we needed to do the pictures immediately if not sooner! (BTW, for those who are wondering, we normally need at least six weeks to create a custom sign in book for your wedding so if you want one, please be sure to plan accordingly!) In any case, here are a few immediate favorites!
thanks for being such good sports!
so sweetly in love…
and yet another “BIG GROUP”! Gotta love those church balconys!
the end! (more later!)
thank you for letting me be a part of your special day!
Did I mention how much I love getting packages? Here’s another album from a 2004 wedding (please note that I accept album orders from your wedding at any time; the pricing will just be the current price if your contract terms have expired) I was so excited with the raspberry pink trim option that Jennifer and Dave selected – since pink is Jennifer’s favorite color and was a major part of her wedding, it only seemed right to bring it into the final album. In deference to Dave’s, well, male gender, we kept it only to the trim and I think the end result is quite beautiful! I hope they like it as much as I do!
one of the nice things about this style album is that we can use an actual invitation in the book
(don’t worry you digital album folks – we can use a scan or photograph of yours in your book!)
and close up of the raspberry!
I love this image! And I always enjoy doing engagement sessions if at all possible! It allows us the opportunity to work together before the wedding – a little bit of a dress rehearsal as it were.
The romance…
the bride – have you ever seen such an amazing heart shaped face?

not EVERYONE is as enthusiastic about the day’s events!
it’s always such a pleasure to hear a service from a pastor who really knows his flock.
how cool was this cake? The entire surface was covered with the verse for Corinthians 13.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres…. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
one of the advantages of seating your photographers near the main table is that we’ll be there when moments like this happen:
(we’ll also be more likely to be fed on time so that when you’re ready to get up and go, we’ll be right there with you!)

Laughter and love in the afternoon!
sometimes it’s just easy ya know?
I love the vintage feel of this image!
Carrie and Casey saw each other before their ceremony – this is such a special moment, I’m glad that we could share it from far Far FAR away! 😉
just loving the light here!
These group photographs are becoming quite popular! It’s a very “traditional” type of image that I take at almost every European wedding I’ve done and I’m glad to be able to bring this little bit of the old country to the new world.
I admit, I cry at weddings… do you?
a good sparkler exit is a SAFE sparkler exit!! I do NOT mind stepping in and helping set this up for everyone’s safety including my own!

I’m a kid; I admit it! I just adore getting packages! Almost as much as I enjoy wrapping them back up again and sending them back out to clients! I have a brand new album in the office ready for Van (11/04/06 wedding) and it looks gorgeous! She selected the new photo cover option for the Artisan style albums and I am beyond thrilled with how amazing it looks! well, a picture is worth a thousand words right? I dont want to ruin Van’s surprise so I’m only going to post a few.
the new cover
the texture of the cover (this helps protect it from fingerprint and other damage)
and just for fun, an inside shot!
Van, coming your way soon!
