What excitement! What energy! What a fun couple!
Maridor is the perfect location for a medium sized wedding – they have an outdoor garden are (with pond and gorgeous trees) and then a very nicely done interior ballroom for the reception portion of the day.
and they said it couldn’t be done!!

Its something we wedding vendors hear about upon occasion – the uninvited guest…
and when those guests bring children…
well, most people would have a conniption fit . Children usually have to have their own meals ahead of everyone else…
and when they don’t get fed, they can sometimes get a bit unruly!
notice, the ripped in screen from an earlier visit that day.
sometimes, you have to call in the bouncers…
no animals were unavoidably injured in the pursuit of this story. (momma just got a leetle pepper spray to dissuade her from coming back)
our heroes!
There are BEARS in them thar woods!
I loved the lighting at this wedding! Lighting designers can play such an important part in the final look of the wedding images – please contact me if you need some recommendations for designers in the area!
and I can finally share this gorgeous image of Bettie from her bridal portrait session!
No matter how many times I’ve been published, I have to admit I STILL feel that wonderful frisson of excitement when I open a new magazine or book and my images are there with my name under them!! Check out the latest DC metro issue of the knot to see an article about Kara and Jeff’s gorgeous September wedding last year. They were married at the Gardens at Sunday Park, a lovely lake front venue right outside of Richmond. The following images are from my old website preview page…
Almost time!
Love September foliage!
I know it looks like I am right on top.. well, underneath them here – I’m actually hidden in some bushes and behind the gazebo back – I just aimed well! 😉
I have to say that I adored their ketubah !
The dock on the lake…
This image was created within 20 seconds of the other – amazing what a little change in light and camera settings can do!
Enjoying some toasts – or were they roasts?
I loved this image so much that it’s on my brochure! Note the background lighting?
I’ll try to get a PDF of the article – and congratulations to Kara and Jeff for their visually stunning wedding!
I’m looking forward to doing another portrait session in the fall with Melissa and Robert! I thought this might be a good opportunity to show you some of the advantages of my downtown studio – we can shoot indoors on one of several different backdrops, and outside in a park or with an urban setting.
One of the things that I enjoy doing is working with other photographers; its rare that I have a free weekend in the summer but I did and I had the delightful opportunity to photograph a wedding with Mike Topham, a photographer out of Richmond. Blue was the theme for the day at this lovely wedding down in Matthews County at the bride’s home.
coming soon!
