Nobody messes with Baby! 😉

And for my second wedding of the weekend held at Quantico

I was honored to be able to photograph this event. The original date was in September and was booked by Mike Topham; the couple had to change their date as the groom’s father received orders to go to Iraq. As Mike was not available on the changed date, I was proud to be able to step in.

Heard many times that day, “they will make beautiful babies wont they?!” I think so! What do you think??? Congratulations you two!

And thank you Colonel for your service and to all who fight so that we may remain free.

UPDATED!!  It’s been an amazing day and I have another wedding in 12 hours so I’m not going to chat tonight (this morning) but just post two immediate favorites as promised!

And here are the others promised!

Sheila from the event co is amazing!  You never have to worry with their team on the job.

Nancy’s “little” wedding day present from Heyward.

Nancy’s friend demonstrating the effectiveness of false eyelashes.  (and I have to tell you, they look AWESOME in pictures although they may not be the most comfortable thing ever)

The gals got ready at the lovely Magnolia Inn.

The Jimmys.

and the ring bling…

In the dress!

It was SUCH a gorgeous day!

The leading man of the event co, JF.

I cant decide which picture I like better of Nancy and her dad…what do you think?

I LOVE emotional weddings!  (my 2nd that day caught this one)

I get asked a lot (especially for my southern weddings) if I do bridal portraits.  Given time, we can do them on the wedding day.  or, I also offer a special package deal to my wedding clients.  I shoot them classically

and, not so classically. 🙂

I also try not to take too much time for the couple’s portraits but keep in mind, the number that you get is directly related to how much time we have to work on the wedding day.

The cocktail was held in and around the Alumni House.

and then they walked to Evans Hall for the reception.  The hall was amazing.. but why dont we just look at the pictures no?  First of all, the floral details…

and then an overview…

You will hear me say/write it again and again, NOTHING will have a greater impact on your photographs than getting a professional lighting designer.  (except of course getting an amazing photographer! 🙂 )

and check out some of the details!

The food was superb as well!

About midway through the traditional western reception, we had a change to a traditional Korean ritual!

Nancy getting dressed again!

It was QUITE funny to watch the “aunties” try to dress the six foot plus Heyward!

Catching of the dates and chestnuts…  (how many grandchildren will they give their parents?!)

The groom often gives a piggy back ride to his mother and then his bride, symbolizing his acceptance of his obligations to both his mother and wife.  In this case, Heyward’s mom graciously declined the ride…

late night treats – sliders and home fries – YUM!

and near the end of the night.

Congratulations you two!

UPDATED! What a glorious day today! The threatened thunderstorms never materialized and we were blessed with a cool soft southern evening! Alice and Ashley are obviously well loved by family and friends – thank you for letting me be a part of the fun!

Another wedding with rehearsal coverage added – this time at the Bull and Bear Club downtown.  They have amazing views…

and the friendliest staff!

The next day at  Saint Stephen’s Episcopal, getting ready.

Alice has a very close relationship with both Mom,

and Dad.

We were not allowed to take any “official” photographs during the ceremony.  I had a “special guest” working with me. 😉

The gang’s all here.

Alice and Ashley mug for their friends cameras – see that glorious sunset behind them?!

I just adore old southern buildings! The reception was held at the Country Club of Virginia….

Florals were by Rachael with Tre Bella Florist Inc.

Dancing to the Codetalkers

I love reaction shots!

Another view of the toasts and cake cutting.

I’m really not sure what was going on here but it was pretty funny!

And the end of the night!

Congratulations to you both!

UPDATED! Just got in from a beautiful wedding in Richmond! Emily and Alex were married at the First Presbyterian Church on Cary Street and their reception was held at the Commonwealth Club downtown. More later – (hint this bride loves BLING! ) Emily and Alex exit the ceremony

As promised, more images from the fabulous wedding!  Their rehearsal dinner was held at the Country Club of Virginia.

Please note rehearsal dinner coverage is an option for all of our clients pending our existing availability. On to the wedding day!  The guys show up ready to go!

Emily was ready too in under 15 minutes!

Her Dad?  I’m not so sure he was ready but he put on a good face!

I love churches with balconeys (but unfortunately, thats where we’re pretty much restricted to in this church)

It’s always great working with an “on the ball” coordinator and Mauna (in the pink) fits that bill for sure.  She helps run the event like clockwork!  She only works from personal referrals though. 😉

I think they were glad “it” was all over – now on to the party!

The reception was held at the gorgeous Commonwealth Club dowtown.

The lovely florals were done by Terri White.

Waiting to be announced…

First dance

remember that bling that I mentioned?  Check out the cake!

The band, Groovetown was a party band!  They got out on the floor and ROCKED!

and they had the guests rocking too!

I always enjoy when I can be there at the end of the night!

Melissa and Scott’s lovely wedding at the UVA chapel and reception at Keswick -I’m SOOO glad the forecasted storms held off until later in the evening!

Loving that first dance!

and of course the cake! It had the BEST buttercream icing I’ve had in a while – and look how pretty it is! Don’t need fondant to have a pretty cake. 😉

I just liked this image.

end of the night – I think I would be ready to take these shoes off too. High heels and my feet just don’t get along very well, even though I LOVE them! Made by Grazia.

The bride’s children were still going strong!

Wasn’t this a sweet touch from Keswick? This and some other surprises awaited the couple in their room that night!

All my best for many happy years together!

is a riotous cartoon about a duck who also happens to be a photographer.  I read it daily and sometimes (well, most time) it is JUST so spot on.  This morning’s cartoon:

I just adore small intimate weddings! Cass and Jacob had one of the smallest ones I have on the books so far for this year – and I was so delighted to be a part of it! Eleven people total including me, at the gorgeous Sixth and I Historic Synagogue.

WPJA is an association by and for wedding photojournalists. It’s one of the very few photography associations out there that actually is merit and style based for inclusion so I’m thrilled to be a part of the group. They hold annual competitions and it’s an amazing field of international photographers; just placing is an incredible honor! Lucky 13 seemed to be my number this time around and interestingly enough, both images were color images. Here are the two images and links to the actual award pages (click on the images)!

I’m working on several things at once (as usual!) and on of the things on my juggling list is the final image selection for my website. It’s been fun going back and taking a fresh look at my work from the past ten years (basically what I have scanned). Here’s an oldie but a goodie – probably one of the most naturally beautiful brides I have ever photographed…
