This design is from Bridget and Tim’s September wedding. I thought the elegant event worked very well with the book they selected!ย The cover is brown leather and the pages feature white mats with brown trim. Here are some favorite spreads:
The wedding ceremony was at the pretty Holy Comforter church and the reception was at the always beautiful Farmington Country Club! As always, the images have been selected by the couple.
Even if I’m not shooting a lot of weddings this time of year, I do get a chance to photograph some engagement sessions!ย Here are Mary and Gavin who are getting married this October.
You might wonder what a wedding photographer does when its cold and grey outside… We get to relive the prior year by working on albums for clients! While some of my clients do not get an album, most do and its great fun for me to see the images that couples pick as their “must haves” for their book. Many times they are quite different from my favs. Sometimes they do pick my favs. Its just an interesting bit of psychology! Since I dont have any weddings to show you right now, I’m going to share some of the album designs I’m working on.
Today’s album is from a wedding that I photographed down in Wise, Virginia. It was an especially sweet and soulful event;here are a couple of my favorite spreads – you can view the complete design at this link: album.
I’m sure you might have figured out by now that I “like” a good wedding cake! Brides.com is having a contest where you can win one of several amazing cakes. Here’s the link to vote and here are some pictures of my favorites!
You may remember these two from their engagement session earlier this fall… Still playing some catch up!
For those who prefer a slideshow format, I’m testing out some new software – check out this link and tell me what you think!
Love the shoes!
and look at that veil!
looks like a red carpet event no?
I just love that moment when the couple realizes THEY’VE DONE “IT”!
There was some gorgeous light coming through the UVA Chapel windows…
The light was gorgeous outside too!
I cant decide if I like the bW version or the color best – what do you think? Put your choice in the comments; the couple will win a print of the image with the most votes by February 14th.
Another one of my favorite images – I love the look on their faces!
These are a bit more “classic” in style but with my own fashiony twist… (is fashiony even a word? I don’t think so… ?)
This was another wedding that featured Pat and Sherry’s amazing work – I just love the details here and the crisp green and white palette…
as always, love the first dance pictures!
Nadine father is deceased; this is his best friend giving the toast. All I can say is thank God for auto focus – I was laughing out loud at the same time I was bawling my eyes out (along with everybody else in the room)
and back to a little comic relief.
I will always look for the quiet moments of the wedding – I think thats one of the things that defines my style.
The bubbles and motion blur add a somewhat mystical feel to the end of the night!
Nadine and Bryan just look so happy and excited here!
There was a brief but explosive sparkler malfunction earlier so with the few remaining sparklers, their friends gave them a final good bye.

playing a bit of catch up on the blog!
A wedding full of details! And the best detail was the obvious comfort and love these two felt for each other all day long…
I always like receiving an invitation if possible – I can then use it for photo ops!
what an amazing location for a ceremony! and in their own backyard too – it makes it so personal and meaningful!
I adore the way the ribbons created an “altar” space – Pat and Sherry always do the most amazing decor.
check out her gorgeous Atelier Aimee dress!
a wedding gift from the groom.
the groom’s parents, Lawrence and Marlene Eagleburger
classic shot of the groom watching his bride walk down the aisle
one of my favorite images from this wedding!
One of the great things about outdoor ceremonies is that I have much greater freedom to move around for additonal viewpoints!
did I mention all the details in this wedding?
and the TWO cakes? As you might know, I haven’t met a wedding cake that I didn’t like yet! ๐
Love kids at weddings…
and meeting folks from other weddings! (Dad and step mom from Aron and Scott’s wedding)
Some of my other favorite moments from the day are usually found during the first dance.
(I must admit I’m especially proud of this shot – I climbed a three story ladder, up a slick roof and halfway up a chimney to get it! We won’t talk about my deathly fear of ladders…)
did I mention I love kids at a wedding?
and SPARKLERS! Sparklers make for amazing exits don’t they?
and I just liked the lights trails in this one.
A full round of applause for Jennifer Carroll and her team! I’ve been hoping to work with her for a while and the experience was everything I expected and more.

One of my favorite places, the Clifton Inn, my favorite time of year (I got married in October) and a stellar couple! What could be better? ๐ Claire Goodman always provides delightful, insightful ceremonies and the flowers/decor were provided by one amazing florist, Pat’s Floral Design of Madison .
You know we all have days that are tougher than others – today was kind of a grey day for me. BUT, then I received this email from a recent bride:
…Just wanted to let you know โ I absolutely love the photos! They are fantastic, we are SO happy with them. How in the world do you get that softness and vibrant color, is there a trick to it?!? The b&w shots and the few that have a little movement in them are my favorites…
And you know what? My day is no longer grey! Thank you, Cerise for bringing the sun! If you want to take a look at some of the images from her fabulous wedding, just go here!
Congratulations Aron and Scott!
Wow – what a day! unseasonably warm fall weather with beautiful sunshine, and an amazing time that ran into the wee hours of the night!
Look at how amazing Aron looks!
it always takes the guys less time…
the rush
the church
sharing a laugh before going down the aisle
love balconeys!
look at that gorgeous light!
What a difference a lighting designer makes no? Its the number one thing I tell people to spend money on (he, besides the photographer) because it has such an impact on the final images!
the single most hysterical thing I think I have ever seen at a wedding – the groom and two buddies choreographed a dance and lip synced to a love song for the bride! Good thing there is autofocus – I was laughing so hard tears were streaming down my face!

Congratulations you two! What a gorgeous day in September for an outdoor event! And what an amazing place to have it! The Lewis Ginter Gardens in Richmond are just stunning every time I go!
the guys were ready to go!
the bride had a bit more to do to get ready…
but it was worth the wait no?
Look at that glorious light!
a little comic relief with the mixed up words!
did I mention how beautiful it was?
I love how less than 20 minutes later, the light had changed so drastically!
the official dances are always a favorite for me!
and for those rare clients that do the bouquet/garter tradition, it can be a source of some amusing images!
did I promise I was or was NOT going to post this one? (GRIN)
Its nice when the bride and groom get to take a short break sometime during the course of events. Ask your coordinator to run interference for you for a few minutes just so you get a chance to catch your breathe (and eat some of that good food!)
I love happy endings!
